CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH
Issues/Concerns regarding this denomination:
Baptismal Salvation - Listed below is what this denomination believes.
"baptism is a sign and seal that our sins are washed away through Jesus Christ." (Source: www.crcna.org/pages/1976_baptism.cfm)
"Baptism is God's way of marking you as part of his church and as a member of his covenant." (Source: www.crcna.org/pages/baptism_new.cfm)
"Baptism is a sign and seal of entering the community of Christ." (Source: www.crcna.org/pages/babies_baptized.cfm)

Infant Baptism - Listed below is what this denomination believes.
"Our children should not be denied the sacrament of baptism because of their inability to understand its meaning. Without their knowledge, our children not only share in Adam's condemnation but are also received into God's favor in Christ." " Since baptism has replaced circumcision, our children should be baptized as heirs of God's kingdom and of his covenant. As the children mature, their parents are responsible for teaching them the meaning of baptism." (Source: www.crcna.org/pages/1976_baptism.cfm )
"So, just as children of the old covenant received the sign of circumcision, our children are given the sign of baptism. We are therefore always to teach our little ones that they have been set apart by baptism as God's own children." (Source: www.crcna.org/pages/1976_baptismII.cfm )

Calvinism - Listed below is what this denomination believes.
"What sets the Christian Reformed Church off from many other denominations is its embrace of key teachings of John Calvin. In a nutshell, these all center on the sovereignty of God. The biblical teachings of predestination and election give us comfort because they assure us that no one and nothing, not even our own bad choices, can snatch us out of God's hand."

Predestination - Listed below is what this denomination believes.
"Election [or choosing] is God's unchangeable purpose by which he did the following: Before the foundation of the world, by sheer grace, according to the free good pleasure of his will, he chose in Christ to salvation a definite number of particular people out of the entire human race, which had fallen by its own fault from its original innocence into sin and ruin. Those chosen were neither better nor more deserving than the others, but lay with them in the common misery. He did this in Christ, whom he also appointed from eternity to be the mediator, the head of all those chosen, and the foundation of their salvation. And so he decided to give the chosen ones to Christ to be saved, and to call and draw them effectively into Christ's fellowship through his Word and Spirit. In other words, he decided to grant them true faith in Christ, to justify them, to sanctify them, and finally, after powerfully preserving them in the fellowship of his Son, to glorify them." "Accordingly, election is the source of each of the benefits of salvation. Faith, holiness, and the other saving gifts, and at last eternal life itself, flow forth from election as its fruits and effects." (Source: www.crcna.org/pages/dort_canons_1stpoint.cfm )
