Ordination of Homosexuals
"The PC(USA) has voted to change its constitution, after 33 years of debate, and allow openly gay people in same-sex relationships to be ordained as ministers, elders and deacons. They will become the fourth mainline Protestant church to do so, joining the Episcopal and Evangelical Lutheran Church in America as well as the United Church of Christ. (The largest mainline Protestant denomination, the United Methodist Church, is still fighting over the issue). The change will allow regional organizations to decide the issue for themselves. Nineteen of the church's 173 presbyteries switched their votes from no to yes in recent months."[NYTimes.com, Yahoo.com]

Recognition of Homosexual Marriages
"The national Presbytery General Assembly voted to change wording in the constitution to allow marriage between "two people"." Previously it read that marriage is between "a man and a woman". "The assembly also made a policy change that now allows pastors to marry same-sex couples in the states...where the unions are recognized."
