Regarding Martin Luther and the fundamental beliefs of Lutherans, click on this link.
Comment - While it is true that Martin Luther identified and helped to break several of the bonds of Roman Catholicism, he left much of what was needing correction untouched. He held to, or developed (see below), views that are less than admirable and as such it is unfortunate that we have a whole denomination (and following) based on the man. In 1 Corinthians 1:11-13 (NKJV) we read "For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’shousehold, that there are contentions among you. Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?"
One thing that many do not realize is that which was summarized in the July/August 2010 issue of the "Israel, My Glory" magazine, page 35: "As Luther grew older, he became a hard-core anti-Semite. His books On the Jews and Their Lies and On the Ineffable Name condemned the Jews and encouraged people to burn their synagogues, destroy their homes, take their wealth, and put them to hard labor. Several hundred years later Adolph Hitler used the writings of Martin Luther, Germany's favorite son, to justify his spiritual case against the Jewish people in his book, Mein Kampf. Hitler followed Luther's suggestions to a tee. But he added one more: murder."
